Prep Football: BOLD, Paynesville cruise into semis of Section 5AA field

OLIVIA -- Zach Remillard and Kyle Athmann accounted for all four touchdowns as BOLD blanked Yellow Medicine East 27-0 in the Section 5AA quarterfinals Tuesday.

The top-seeded Warriors (8-1) advanced to play Benson (5-4) at home at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the semifinals. BOLD beat Benson 29-16 in Week 3.

BOLD, which also shut out YME 32-0 in Week 4, took the lead 6 minutes in on a screen pass that Remillard pulled in for a 53-yard touchdown.

Remillard scored again on a seven-yard run to give the Warriors a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Athmann and Remillard each had one-yard runs for touchdowns in the second quarter to push the lead to 27-0 at the half.

Paynesville 36, LQPV 27

A three-score outburst in the second quarter helped No. 3 Paynesville (5-3) stake a 16-point lead at halftime and propel the Bulldogs into a semifinal matchup at No. 2 Eden Valley-Watkins (7-2) on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Do-it-all senior Josh Bungum ignited Paynesville by rushing for 218 yards and throwing for another 162. Bungum scored on runs covering 34, 5 and 49 yards while also throwing a 9-yard TD to Kyle Wolters. Jason Kampsen added a 56-yard scoring run.

LQPV's Sam Haas ran for 208 yards, scored on two runs and caught another TD on a pass from Blake Hoium.
