The Lakers improved to 3-2 in the West Central Conference and overall while the Thunder Hawks dropped to 2-3 in the conference and overall.

Schultenover caught a 14-yard scoring pass from quarterback Austin Ostrander in the first quarter, and back Greg Helander bumped the margin to 14 points with a 3-yard scoring run early in the second quarter, after Ostrander intercepted a pass in T-Hawks’ territory.

Montevideo Troy Diggins hooked up with Logan Knoshal on a 12-yard scoring pass for Montevideo’s lone points in the second quarter and it was 14-6 at half.

But Ostrander ran 12 yards for a score to open the second-half scoring and Schultenover picked off Diggins and returned it 42 yards for the TD that put the Lakers up 28-6.

Minnewaska’s Will Anderson capped the scoring with a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Thunder Hawks’ Homecoming week ends with a WCC game against Morris/Chokio-Alberta on Friday.

The Lakers play next at Sauk Centre on Friday.
