NEW LONDON -- Aaron Ruter hauled in a 57-yard scoring strike and had 113 receiving yards on just 4 catches as New London-Spicer held on to edge Waconia 21-14 in a Wright County Conference clash Friday in NLS' home opener.

Waconia (0-2, 0-2) tied the game at 7-7 about five minutes after Ryan Vraa's long TD pass to Ruter, but NLS (2-0, 2-0) then had Adam Essler (3 yards) and Austin Stone (17 yards) score in the third quarter to take command.
