Prep Football: Ottertail rallies past Fighting Saints

BATTLE LAKE -- Kyle Baker's punt return touchdown gave KMS the lead with about two minutes remaining, but Ottertail Central made one last push and it proved successful.

Dan Marso caught a 49-yard scoring pass from Andrew Smith with 50 seconds left in the game and Ottertail won the Prairie South Conference game 32-27 on Friday night.

Smith ended the night with the passing TD to Marso and he also ran for three scores.

The Saints and OTC traded touchdowns throughout the game, with the Bulldogs taking a 26-20 fourth-quarter lead on Jake Trosdahl's 3-yard run.

But Baker returned an OTC punt 42 yards for a score that put the Saints up 27-26 with two minutes left.

KMS's Zach Carlson carried 11 times for 106 yards and 2 TDs and Jordan Rothers picked up 70 yards and also ran for a score.

The Saints play next against Browerville at 7 p.m. Friday in Murdock.

Nick Dingmann, Anthony Johnson and Nathan Meyer scored two touchdowns each for the Bulldogs.

Meyer had 170 total yards rushing while Johnson had 180.

The Lakers took advantage of 6 Montevideo turnovers to collect their first win.

Minnewaska quarterback Austin Ostrander played big both sides of the ball. He ran for three short touchdowns, threw for 167 yards and on defense had a pick, a fumble recovery and made 10 tackles.

The Thunder Hawks outgained the host team 330 to 298 yards but too many drives were ended by miscues.

After the Hawks went up 7-0 on a 5-yard burst by Jake Bednar, the Lakers scored the next 32 points.

Marcus Kranz rushed for 72 yards for Monte.

Jon Nygaard had a pick and 10 tackles for Waska.

Chaz Roush rushed for 250 yards and scored touchdowns on runs of 64 yards and 52 yards to keep the Warriors undefeated.

BOLD broke out to a 24-0 lead behind Roush and quarterback Tyler Rock, who hit on 5 of 8 passes for 142 yards. He threw a 58-yard touchdown pass to Riley Kramer and he also completed a 28-yard pass to Trent Athmann for another score.

BOLD ran for 313 yards and finished with 455 total yards.

LQPV gashed the Warriors' defense for 247 rushing yards but couldn't convert them into points until JD Struxness scored on a 38-yard run in the third quarter. Struxness ran 2 yards for another TD in the fourth quarter.

Struxness piled up 153 yards and the two touchdowns on just 14 carries, and Lucas Mortenson gained 104 yards for the Eagles.
