MINNEOTA — Dawson-Boyd ran off 11 more plays and had the ball 4 minutes longer than Minneota/Lincoln HI Friday, but the Vikings had their way with the Blackjacks as the No. 7-ranked team in Class AA ran to a 27-6 win in a battle between two of the top programs in the Little Sioux Conference.

The Vikings, now tied with only Adrian for first place in the conference at 5-0, gave up a touchdown on Dawson-Boyd’s first possession before silencing the high-powered offense that averaged 54 points through the first four weeks of the season.

Michael Anyasike had rushed for 666 yards in the Blackjacks’ first four games, but the Vikings held the senior to just 46 yards on 18 carries (2.6 ypc). Dalton Palmer gained an additional 40 yards on the ground and produced the lone score for Dawson-Boyd, which entered the game No. 2 in the Class A poll.

Joey Lee did complete just under 50 percent of his passes to pile up 215 yards, but the Dawson-Boyd senior also threw 3 interceptions.

Nathan Pavek scored on a 72-yard run and picked off Lee twice, and Austin Buysse threw 2 TD passes to spark the Vikings.
