Minnewaska 14,

Paynesville 6

Paynesville limited Minnewaska to just 118 total yards but untimely penalties and two second-half turnovers on Wednesday helped the Lakers win their fourth straight game after opening the season 0-4.

Paynesville took a lead in the second quarter on Anthony Johnson's touchdown run, but the Lakers' Jack Schultenover intercepted a Matthew Quade pass and returned it 65 yards for the game-tying TD.

Later in the second quarter, Schultenover caught a 45-yard scoring pass from Austin Ostrander to give Minnewaska a 14-6 lead.

Paynesville rolled up 259 yards on the ground and threw for another 90 yards, but the Bulldogs were unable to reach the end zone in the second half.

Meyer carried 31 times for 161 yards.

BOLD dominated field position the whole game, holding Benson to three first downs in a 36-6 West Central Conference victory Wednesday.

The Warriors' Tyler Seehusen ran in a 7-yard touchdown in the first quarter and Trevor Nissen pulled in a 24-yard score from Tyler Rock on the last play of the first half to give BOLD a 13-0 lead.

Benson quarterback Matt Ahrndt had a 79-yard punt return to the 2-yard line and scored two plays later, but the Braves would have no other chances to score.

LQPV 27, Montevideo 6

J.D. Struxness scored on a 5-yard run and hauled in a 24-yard scoring strike from backup quarterback Kellen Kessler to help Lac qui Parle Valley secure its bid for a first-round home game next week in the Section 5AA playoffs.

The fourth-seeded Eagles (4-4, 4-4) will host No. 5 Benson while No. 7 Montevideo (1-7, 1-7) will play at No. 2 Litchfield in the Secion 6AAA playoffs.

Dylan Erickson opened the scoring with a 1-yard keeper in the first quarter, but the starting LQPV quarterback then suffered a knee injury in the second quarter and didn't return, paving the way for Kessler, who capped the scoring with a 2-yard run in the third quarter.

Dazhown Coleman rushed for a game-high 115 yards for LQPV, while Montevideo got its lone score in the first quarter when Troy Diggins fired a 46-yard TD strike to Austin Hiepler.

MURDOCK -- The Lange boys, Mitch and Kyle, combined to run for seven touchdowns and the one-loss Patriots roughed up KMS 50-15 in both teams' regular-season finale on Wednesday.

Mitch Lange rolled up 184 yards and scored five TDs on just 13 carries while Kyle rushed for 58 yards and two scores.

Cody Peters hauled in a 59-yard pass from Kyle Baker to tie the game in the first quarter but USA ran off 43 unanswered points to put the game well out of reach.

Ryan Hatlestad, pressed into regular action with starting back Jordan Rothers sitting with an injured leg, carried 11 times for 89 yards and scored on a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter.

KMS will play Minneapolis North to open the section playoffs but the Saints won't learn until today if they will play the game on the road or in Murdock.

SWU 28, RCW 27

A fourth-quarter touchdown and a time-consuming drive late helped Southwest United win the conference game.

RCW finished its first regular season in 9-man football 0-8. The Jaguars find out their section playoff opponent today.

RCW had a handle on their first win after Mitch Treml returned a third-quarter fumble for a score and Colin Thompson later brought a kickoff back 90 yards for another TD that put the Jags ahead 27-20.

But in the fourth quarter, a botched punt play gave SWU the ball inside the RCW 10 yard line and Kurt Schmitz then rumbled in for his fourth touchdown and added the conversion run to put the Wildcats up by one.

RCW failed to convert on a 4th-down-and-one play at the SWU 30 with about 5-1/2 minutes to play and the Wildcats ran out the clock.

In addition to the fumble return, Treml caught two TD passes from quarterback Hayden Johnson.

BBE 26, EVW 6

One day after the sudden death of popular BBE teacher and coach Rich Vos, the Jaguars took command early and never let up to finish the regular season with a conference home win in Belgrade.

"The guys definitely were playing with heavy hearts tonight with the loss of a coach, teacher and all-around good guy," BBE head coach Chris Moscho said. "There was a lot of compassion. These guys were definitely not going to lose this game."

BBE controlled the ground game, with almost 300 rushing yards. Austin Kollman and Patrick Rooney both surpassed 100 yards and both scored touchdowns.

Jaguars quarterback Brian Goodwin also threw scoring passes to Alex Wosmek and James Kuefler.

Vos, the Jaguars head wrestling coach and a math teacher, was killed Tuesday morning when his bike was struck by a semi.

Annandale 6,

Litchfield 0

Litchfield (1-3, 3-5) had a chance to tie or pull ahead late in the fourth quarter, but a trip into the Annandale red zone didn't pan out for the Dragons.

Annandale, No. 6 in Class AAA, sacked Zach Kinny on third down and then got an interception a play later to get the ball back with 4 minutes remaining. The Cardinals then ran out the clock.

Annandale (3-1, 7-1) got the game's only score late in the second quarter when John Kalthoff and Andrew Russek hooked up on a 49-yard pass play. The Cardinals had missed a field goal earlier in the quarter.

Andrew Schneider rushed for 55 yards and Cody Rau caught 4 passes for 49 yards for Litchfield, which will more than likely get the No. 2 seed for the Section 6AAA playoffs, meaning it will host No. 7 Montevideo in the first round.
