NEW LONDON —  The Wildcats touchdown machine roared again Friday night mounting 8 six-pointers in a 57-8 win over the visiting Litchfield Dragons.

New London-Spicer’s third win by an average margin of 49 points puts them 3-0 and alone at the top of the Wright County Conference.

The road gets steeper next week at Glencoe-Silver Lake. The Panthers put a 48-28 licking on Annandale and are 2-1 with a loss to Hutchinson.

On a warm (70-degrees at kickoff) clear evening before a big crowd, Litchfield turned the ball over three times in the first seven minutes.

Ryan Vraa threw to Shane Zylstra on consecutive plays, around a Dragons muff on the kickoff, for touchdowns and a quick 22-0 lead.

The Cats rolled up 501 yards off offense, 401 on the ground. Adam Essler busted for 132 yards in 16 totes and 3 TDS. Vraa completed 7 of 9 throws for 100 yards and the two scores to Zylstra, a 6-foot-4 target.

CB Eben Pederson had a pair of pick-offs for NLS while Ben Beuning and Jarod Vossen each made 8 tackles.

Litchfield, which is short on numbers for a 3A team  with just 12 seniors and 17 juniors, managed just 126 total yards.

QB Alex Hendricks ran for a team-high 25 yards; Andrew Schneider scored from the 5 for the Dragons’ score.
