WILLMAR -- Xiaodan Yu continued her solid play at 1-singles for the Willmar girls tennis team, but St. Cloud Tech was too strong across the board for the Cardinals in a 6-1 Central Lakes Conference win Thursday.

Yu defeated seventh-grader Taylor Tarroly 6-1, 6-3. Tarroly is undefeated this season playing 2-singles.

Xiaodan played another excellent match beating Tarroly, said Willmar head Erika Kath.

The Cardinals didn't win a set in the other six matches. Willmar plays at home against Marshall on Monday.

NLS won the scheduled dual again by sweeping doubles and winning at 1- and 2-singles. All five wins came in straight sets.

Jada Hoffman at No. 3 and Hannah Freske at No. 4 collected straight-set singles victories for Minnewaska.

Behind a three-set win at No. 1 from Callie Mersbergen/Erica Bonnema and straight-set wins at No. 2 from Jenna Mersbergen/Kali Christianson and No. 3 from Emma Jansen/Rachel Davids, MACCRAY (3-2, 4-10) swept doubles to jump over the .500 mark in conference play.

Brooke Rambow at No. 2 and Amber Wieberdink at No. 3 also won in straight sets in their singles matches for the Wolverines.

Yellow Medicine East dropped the first two singles matches against Morris/CA on Thursday but the Sting swept the rest to easily defeat the Tigers.

Morris' Krista Matthrews-Saugstad and Abby Olson won their matches, but YME's Leah Guth and Anna Posch evened the singles points with victories at 2-singles and 3-singles, and the Sting's three doubles teams didn't drop a set.
