Prep softball: Minnetonka blows out Willmar

EDEN PRAIRIE -- The Willmar softball team's season came to an end in a 15-0 loss to Minnetonka in the first round of the Section 2AAA playoffs on Friday.

The Cardinals were down just 3-0 after three innings, but the Skippers exploded for 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth and winning pitcher Jackie Evenson shutdown Willmar in the fifth to end the game.

Heather Horning, who has been hampered by injuries for several weeks, took the loss, and she also had one of Willmar's three hits. Laura Swartz and Casey Marcus had the Cards' other hits.

Willmar ended the season 6-13 overall.
