NEW LONDON -- Paynesville came out of the battle of unbeaten softball teams with a 4-2 win over New London-Spicer Monday.

The game was scoreless through the first three innings, then the Bulldogs (9-0) scored three runs on a Jessica Klein triple, a single by Kayla Lieser and a fielder's choice. Paynesville added another run in the fifth inning.

In the seventh, the Wildcats (8-1) failed the shutout bid with two runs. Jenna Moritz tripled in the first run and Jessica Rosendahl's ground out scored the last.

Paynesville's Whitney Woehler went the distance for the win. She gave up five hits, struck out five and didn't walk a batter.

Keely Meagher hit two doubles to lead the Bulldogs.

Rosendahl took the loss, allowing seven hits and two walks. She struck out four.

Moritz led the Wildcats with two hits.

BOLD 1, Benson/Hancock 0

In a game that was continued from a suspended game April 16 after 10 innings, Brittany Nissen doubled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning for BOLD.

The original game was the second of a doubleheader, but could not be continued due to problems with the lights at the field in Benson.

Benson/Hancock threatened first in the top of the 11th, loading the bases with one out, but BOLD's Christy Gass was able to get a pop fly out and a strikeout to end the threat.

Nissen's double scored Alex Ebnet, who started the inning by reaching on an error.

Brittany Dahlk had two hits to lead the Warriors. Gass finished with eight strikeouts overall in 12 innings pitched.

Datriana Jensen went 3-for-5 with a double for Benson/Hancock. Taylor Semler pitched 11 innings overall and struck out 10.

A two-run single by Jordan Stalker capped a four-run rally on three consecutive hits for the Lakers in the bottom of the third inning.

Laura Paulson earned the win by going the distance, striking out nine and surrendering two runs.

The Eagles' Katie Deyo cracked a solo home run in the top of the seventh.

Central Minnesota BBE 17, EV-Watkins 10

Raeann Sorenson highlighted a four-hit, 10-run third inning with a line drive to center field that scored three runs for the Jaguars.

Along with Sorenson, Laura Johnson led BBE offensively by batting 3-for-4 with two runs batted in. She also closed the game with 1Zc innings of pitching.

Maggie Gruber and Amy Bast tallied two hits each and combined for three RBI.
