Prep Softball: Rocori clips Willmar to stay in 1st in CLC

WILLMAR -- The Willmar softball had opportunities to score runs, but only cashed in once in a 2-1 loss to Rocori in Central Lakes Conference action Tuesday.

The Spartans (11-2, 14-4), who are tied with Brainerd for the lead in the conference, scored two runs in the third inning on singles from Jordan Hansen and Chelsey Stang.

Willmar (7-5, 9-7) answered with a run in the sixth, getting an RBI single from Sara Kallhoff.

But the Cardinals had runners in scoring position with less than two outs in each of the last three innings. In the fifth, Willmar had runners on second and third base with no outs. After scoring the run in the sixth, Megan Rudie's double was wasted with just one out.

Finally, Willmar had a runner at second with no outs in the seventh but couldn't score the run.
