PAYNESVILLE — A six-run fifth inning gave the BOLD Warriors the edge and they stranded Paynesville’s potential tying run at second base in the bottom of the seventh  to win a West Central Conference game 8-7 Monday.

Elsa Skeie was 3-for-4 and drove in a run and Paige Larsen was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Paynesville’s Sam Dahl was 4-for-4 with two doubles and two runs batted in.

The Bulldogs are 3-1 in the West Central Conference and 5-3 overall.

Sauk Centre opened with a five-run first and finished with a five-run sixth. Winning pitcher Katelyn Durbin, who threw five innings without allowing an earned run, was 3-for-4 at the plate.

Riley Wilner singled twice and sister Hannah doubled in a run and their cousin, Peyton Wilner, also singled for the Falcons. Katie Moore drove in two runs.

Two big innings helped the Dutchmen overtake the Brave Owls in Benson.

Krista Motzko homered for Benson/Hancock and Brittney Kurkosky, Addie Forbord, Shaleah Schmidt and Nicole Berens had the Brave Owls’ other hits.

Sandra Sprenger double twice and drove in four runs for the Dutchmen.

Annandale batted 13 in the fifth inning to take a comfortable 11-1 lead. Ashley Jansen doubled twice and also singled to ignite the Cardinals.

Brianna Fredrick, Taylor Thunstedt, Espi Austvold and Sienna Kampsen all had two hits apiece for the Wildcats. Fredrick, Thunstedt and Kampsen were also responsible for driving in all of the runs.
