Holmberg, who is in her 34th season, is only the sixth Minnesota coach to reach the 500-win milestone.

The Tigers took a four-run lead in the fourth but the Sting responded with a five-run fifth to take the lead.

But MCA rebounded with four runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth, enough to withstand YME’s rally in the seventh.

MCA’s Nicole Strobel was 3-for-4 and drove in three runs and Becca Holland also was 3-for-4 with a triple.

Lauren Reimers, Abbie Olson and Brianna Abril all had two hits.

YME’s Marissa Sneller was 3-for-4 with a double and Megan Odegard and Allie Zieske also had three-hit games.

The Tigers play host to the eight-team Morris/Chokio-Alberta Invitational today, opening with MACCRAY at 10 a.m.
