Prep softball roundup: Monte holds off Benson/Hancock


BENSON — The Montevideo softball team scored two insurance runs in the top of the seventh and held off a Benson/Hancock rally in its final at-bat to defeat the BraveOwls 6-5 on Friday.

It was the Thunder Hawks’ first game of the season while Benson/

Hancock dropped to 0-2.

Montevideo plays next against Marshall at 5 p.m. Monday in Montevideo.
