Prep Softball: T-Hawks soar past NLS

NEW LONDON -- The New London-Spicer Wildcats got 15 runner on base but could only put only two made it home in a 7-2 loss to Montevideo on Monday in non-conference softball.

Winning pitcher Ashley Hoehne survived 7 hits and 8 walks. Seven strikeouts helped break free of jams.

Adequate offense was provided by the Hawks' leadoff Jessica Janisch, who reached base 3 times, scored 2 runs and knocked in 3 with a pair of hits.. Dani Emkes singled and doubled and Hoehne helped her own cause with a pair of hits.

Losing pitcher Amanda Radel went 3-for-4 at the plate but the combination of giving up 9 hits and 7 walks, plus a few fielding lapses, led to trouble, especially in the fourth when Montevideo pushed across 4 runs for a 5-2 lead.
