"She's the toughest pitcher our girls have seen," said Willmar coach Brent Pederson. "There was a radar gun on her and she was consistently 61 to 63 mph. Our girls battled. We put a lot of hard-hit balls in play, but right at someone."

Anderson fanned six, walked none, but hit three. Alex Linbo took an inside pitch on her wrist and may be out for a while, Pederson said.

Willmar (3-3, 3-3) loaded the bases in the top of the third, but couldn't push a run across.

Sarah Roehl and Sara Kallhoff got the Willmar hits.

Carlie Manton's two-run triple in the first staked the Warriors to a 3-0 lead.

The Cardinals host New Prague in a non-conference game today at 5 p.m.

Waconia 3, Litchfield 2

After losing to Waconia 10-0 in an earlier meeting this spring, Litchfield (0-9. 0-10) showed vast improvement this time and nearly picked up its first win of the season.

Trialing 3-0, the Dragons scored twice in the last of the sixth inning on a run-scoring single by Britny Christensen and a run-scoring double off the fence by Hailey Horstmann. But the potential tying run was thrown out at the plate.

Horstmann scattered 11 hits in going the distance for Litchfield. She escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the seventh inning.

Litchfield had the tying run on third base with two outs in the seventh, but couldn't push the runner across.

Winning pitcher Kiela DeVlaeminck allowed six hits and struck out nine.
