Prep Softball: Unbeaten Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (Minn.) in 3A final
SLAYTON -- The unbeaten Fighting Saints of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg mowed down Edgerton SW Christian 4-0 and Lakeview 1-0 in two tough games on Saturday to gain a spot in the Section 3A fastpitch softball final round.
The Saints (22-0) will await the winner in the comeback bracket contest matching Lakeview and Edgerton Southwest Christian game on Tuesday. The final round (1 of 2 games to go to state) will be played on Thursday in Marshall.
Also in 3A, Dawson-Boyd's bid to reach the finals was upended by Lakeview 7-1 and then, in the comeback bracket, by Edgerton 6-2.
Meantime, in Section 3AA, at Marshall, Morris/CA fell to the Pipestone Arrows 12-2 in 6 innings but rebounded to take out Redwood Valley 4-2 to stay alive. The Tigers will have to defeat Pipestone on Tuesday to get to the finals against New Ulm (public) on Thursday.
