Prep Softball: Willmar gets 12 hits in win over Sauk Rapids

WILLMAR -- Heather Horning went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs and the Willmar Cardinals drubbed Sauk Rapids 13-4 in a Central Lakes Conference softball game on Wednesday.

Alex Linbo had three hits and drove in two runs for the Cardinals (8-4, 10-7).

Willmar scored 11 runs in the first three innings.

Addy Nelsen doubled home two runs in the first inning and Horning hit a two-run single.

Horning also singled in runs in the second and third innings. Linbo drove in a run with a single in the second and third innings.

Horning pitched the first four innings for the win, allowing four hits and three runs (one earned). She walked one and struck out six. Lindsay Atchison pitched the final three innings, giving up four hits and one unearned run, while walking one and fanning three.

Nikki Kothenbeutel and Alex Gerchy had two hits apiece for Sauk Rapids (2-10, 5-12).

Willmar plays at Alex-andria today and can finish third in the conference with a win.
