Prep Swimming: SC Tech edges Cards
WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals perhaps had their most exciting meets of the season on Thursday evening of homecoming week.
They lost to St. Cloud Tech, but only by a hand touch in the final relay.
"It's tough to lose but the girls can be proud in their effort," said Willmar head coach Carl Shuldes. "We had a great meet."
Willmar swimmers and a diver worked hard enough for 15 season- or personal bests.
Alycia Holwerda won the 200 IM in a personal-best time of 2:34.63 and her sister Kennedy won the 500 in a career-best 5:59.62. Miranda Kuchta won the 200 back.
In the final, the Cardinals (4-2, 4-3) needed to got 1-3 in the 400 free relay but Tech edged ahead by to win first place by a fifteenth of a second and Willmar settled for second and third place.
