Prep Swimming: Willmar finally pulls plug on Fergus
WILLMAR -- Since Fergus Falls joined the Central Lakes Conference in 2005-06, the Otters had lived up their nickname and outswam the Cardinals in every dual meet.
Until last night.
Willmar beached the Otters 101-82 on Thursday at the high-school eight-lane pool.
"It was just an outstanding all-around effort," said an elated Carl Shuldes, who has headed up the girls program since 2003. "All our relays swam their best times."
Kennedy Holwerda has a personal best in winning the 200 free and Aylcia Howerda dropped three seconds in the individual medley for second place.
Liz Gorans, Rose Jackson and Marin Fisher all posed personal bests in the 50 sprint.
Erika Aaker dropped 10 seconds to win the 500 free and had a season best in the 200 free to place second.
