COLD SPRING -- The Willmar girl's tennis team won three singles matches and welcomed back 2-singles player Gabie Bierbaum as the Cardinals upended Rocori 5-2 Thursday in a Central Lakes Conference match.

Bierbaum missed Tuesday's win over Sartell because of soreness from an auto accident on Monday.

Bierbaum dropped her match, but Xiaodan Yu, Bailey Hovland and Maddy Oehrlein won singles matches for the Cardinals.

Willmar's doubles teams of Heather Horning and Kassy Linbo, and Carlee Bach and Leah Ramon won in straight sets.

The Cardinals play at St. Cloud Tech today.

LQPV streak continues

MADISON -- Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd remained unbeaten on the season after losing just one set as they blanked Montevideo 7-0 Thursday in a West Central South Conference match.

LQPV/DB went a perfect 4-0 during the first half of the conference schedule and is now 14-0 overall.

Kelle Thompson won 6-0, 6-0 at 2-singles and Patricia Ott (No. 1), Lindsay Hansen (No. 3) and Mariana Risch (No. 4) combined to lose only seven games.

The LQPV/DB 2-doubles tandem of Katie Hutt/Kylie Jahn lost the first set before rallying for a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win. Michelle Olson/Tiffani Hastad won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 and Anna Dvorak/Whitney Schwenk won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3.

The Wildcats won three of four singles matches to hold off MACCRAY.

NLS' Amanda Radel, Lisa Dobbelaere and Kristin Lewis all won singles matches.

MACCRAY's Avery Winter won at 4-singles. The Wolverines won at 2-doubles and 3-doubles, but the Wildcats' 1-doubles team of Baylie Clark and Abby Nelson outlaster MACCRAY's Callie Mersbergen and Erica Bonnema to wrap up the match.
