Prep Tennis: Willmar 1-2 on opening day

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals boys tennis team opened the season in a quadrangular at home, winning one of their three matches.

The Cardinals topped New Ulm 5-2, then lost to Shakopee 7-0 and Prior Lake 5-2.

Willmar hosts Sartell on Tuesday.

Mitch Fader at No. 1, Preston Peterson at No. 2 and Mitch Konieczny at No. 3 won singles matches for Willmar. Winning in doubles for Willmar were Shane Christensen and David Skonard won at No. 2 and Graham Dahl and Sam Murphy at No. 3.
