Prep Tennis: Willmar closes out season in 2AAA tourney

ST. PETER -- Willmar's tennis season came to a close on Saturday in the Section 2AA individual tournament at Gustavis Adolphus College.

Willmar's two singles players and two doubles teams combined for just one win.

The doubles duo of Mitch Fader and Landon Peterson won its first match over Cody Marlatt and Nate Bartels 6-0, 6-1, before losing to Hutchinson's John Bradley and Logan Hahn 6-3, 6-4.

In singles, Evan Armstrong lost his first match to Joe Morris of New Prague, 6-0, 6-1. Mitch Konieczny also lost his opener in a three-set marathon to Kam Manthe of New Prague 7-6 (7-3), 5-7, 7-5.

In the other doubles match, Willmar's Shane Christensen and Marty Larson were ousted by New Prague's Joe Klehr and Andrew Roach 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-3.

All four of Hutchinson's entries advanced to the finals today in Bloomington.
