WILLMAR -- Jim Neis' three-set win at 1-singles helped Willmar edge St. Cloud Apollo 4-3 in Central Lakes Conference boys tennis action Thursday.

The Cardinals (5-4, 9-4) picked up three wins early in the dual, but the Eagles came back with two doubles wins to tie it with just Neis' match remaining.

He took the first set 6-3, but then Ian Johnson tied the match by winning the second set, 6-3. Neis was in a 4-1 hole in the third set before taking the victory, 7-5.

Mitch Fader, at 3-singles, and Evan Armstrong at 4-singles both picked up straight set victories for Willmar. Ryan Sheehan and Mark Dunham at 3-doubles earned the Cardinals lone doubles point.
