Prep volleyball: Benson sweeps ACGC

GROVE CITY -- Benson won its second straight West Central Conference match on Tuesday, shutting down ACGC's hitting game and winning in three games.

The Braves won 27-25, 25-15 and 25-19.

The Braves improved to 2-4 in the conference and they are 4-6 overall.

ACGC fell to 3-2 in the WCC and 5-7 overall.

Benson won a tight game one and appeared inspired by the victory.

They sped out to a big lead in the game two and closed out the match as the Falcons were beset by hitting errors.

The Braves recorded eight solo blocks compared to ACGC's one and the Falcons committed more hitting errors than they had kills.

Benson's Emma Peterson played a solid all-around game, with 14 kills, 4 solo blocks, 5 service aces and 12 digs.

Brianna Staton and Cyra Carlson both had 6 kills and Alexa Nissen had 5. Nissen also had 14 set assists and Hanna Lindblad had 5.

ACGC's Sydney Larson and Shelby Schroeder both had 5 kills.

The Braves play next at YME on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
