Prep Volleyball: Cardinals topple St. Cloud Tech

ST. CLOUD — Dani Rosen and Leah Ruter were an imposing force at the net and the Willmar volleyball team won a hard-fought match over St. Cloud Tech in four games on Tuesday.

Neither team won a game by more than three points, with the Cardinals prevailing 25-22, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-22.

Rosen made just three hitting errors and recorded 19 kills and 5 ace blocks, and Ruter had 12 kills and 3 blocks.

Cardinals setter Riley Grussing played a solid all-around game, with 46 set assists, a pair of kills, 4 ace blocks, 13 digs and 5 service aces.

Jennie Magnuson had 8 kills and 5 ace blocks.

Both teams finished the night 1-1 overall and in the Central Lakes Conference. The Cardinals were coming off a 25-17, 25-15, 25-18 loss to Class AA No. 2-ranked Fergus Falls in their season opener last Thursday.

Willmar plays Sauk Rapids at 7 p.m. Thursday at Willmar High School.
