HANCOCK -- The Hancock Owls defended their home court Saturday to win the Hancock Invitational.

The Owls (22-1) defeated Upsala 25-21 and 25-22 for the championship.

Kendra Schmidgall supplied 75 kills and Courtney Greiner 49 more for Hancock. Setter Shae Brown had 117 assists and Greiner also had eight ace blocks.

BOLD went 3-1 to capture third place Saturday at the Dassel-Cokato Invitational and improve its overall record to 12-7.

Tyann Caspers had 27 kills in 9 games to lead the Warriors' offense. Nikki Neisen added 17 kills, Sam Luepke (44) and Baylie Kubesh (32) combined for 76 assists, and Mallarie Steffel collected 24 digs in preparation for Tuesday's West Central South Conference showdown at Benson Tuesday.
