Prep volleyball: Minnewaska downs BOLD

OLIVIA -- The Minnewaska volleyball team stayed within sight of West Central Conference leader, state-ranked Sauk Centre, with a big road win on Thursday.

Minnewaska rolled behind 16 kills from Lexi Amundson and 40 Ashton Byrne set assists to defeat BOLD in four games.

The Lakers came through 25-23, 25-15, 15-25 and 25-20.

The Lakers improved to 7-1 in the West Central Conference, a game behind the undefeated Mainstreeters, and they are 13-4 overall. BOLD fell to 4-4 in the WCC and 7-8 overall.

Sydney Joos added 11 kills for the Lakers while teammate Taylor Noetzelman had 6.

Byrne also had 5 kills and the Lakers' Ariel Ostrander and Alexis Guggisberg both had 4.

BOLD's Baylie Kubesh struck for 13 aces in 38 hits. Mallarie Steffel drilled 5 ace serves on 19 deliveries with 1 errors.
