GROVE CITY — The Benson Braves peppered the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City defense for 32 kills on the way to a sweep in West Central Conference volleyball 25-17, 25-22, 25-14 on Thursday.

Krista Motzko hammered for 11 kills from the left side to pace the spikers. Setter Hanna Lindblad supplied 15 assists.

Beth Erhardt and Cyra Carlson supplied the visiting Braves (1-2, 2-2) with another 5 kills each after the two combined to misfire on just three hits in 31 attempts. Taylor Laumeyer and Shyanne Himley added 4 kills each.

Himley also had a team-high 3 ace serves.

Falcons’ setter Peyton Wilner had 20 helpers. Jacey Nelson led the offense with 7 kills in 34 chances, while Kaitlyn Moore followed with 5 and Katie Peterson and Shayna Kaddatz 4 each.

Hannah Wilner added a match-high 5 ace serves for the winless Falcons (0-3, 0-4).

The BOLD Warriors cruised to their fourth straight sweep to open the season as they took out Yellow Medicine East 25-21, 25-10, 25-6 Thursday in a West Central Conference match.

No one reached double figures in kills for BOLD (3-0, 4-0), but seven players had at least one. Carly Sigurdson and Andrea Maher each collected 7, while Baylie Kubesh and Kiah Morse added 6 each and Mallarie Steffel another 4.

BOLD also used an efficient serving game to stay unbeaten as eight players combined to misfire on just three serves in 69 attempts, resulting in 14 aces. Steffel pocketed a match-high 5 aces with Paige Larsen following with 3.

Chyanne Sand, Jordan Hinz and Hailey Enstad had 3 kills each for the Sting (1-2, 1-4). Sand also had a match-high 3 ace blocks.

Sydney Engebretson led MCA with 12 kills, Terianne Itzen had 10 and Paige Schiele finished with 9.

Haley Erdahl and Chelsey Ehleringer both had 12 set assists and both had 11 digs..

Sydney Stone and Olivia Setterberg continued their dominant work at the net with a combined 27 kills in New London-Spicer’s three-game Wright County Conference victory over Mound Westonka in New London on Thursday.

Stone had 14 kills and Setterberg had 13 as the Wildcats won 25-16, 25-20 and 25-22.

Kelsie Rustad had 30 set assists and 44 digs, and Lindsay Vagle had 6 kills, 2 ace blocks, 3 service aces and 15 digs for the Wildcats.

New London-Spicer is 1-1 in the Wright County Conference and 5-2 overall. The Wildcats play Delano at home at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
