BROOTEN — A thrilling opening set that Morris/Chokio-Alberta came away victorious from soon turned in Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa’s favor as the Jaguars upended the visiting Tigers 26-28, 25-15, 26-24, 25-14 Monday in both program’s season opener.

The Jaguars, coming off a 25-8 campaign that saw them fall one win shy of qualifying for the state tournament, got a balanced attack led by Becca Gruber’s 17 kills. Megan Weller added 14 kills and Kinlee Swanson chipped in another 11.
