OLIVIA — BOLD extended its first-place lead in the West Central South, beating second-place Benson 25-9, 25-23, 25-12 on Thursday.

The Warriors are now 8-2 in the conference and 13-7 overall.

Carly Sigurdson led BOLD with 11 kills, 27 digs and was 12-for-13 serving.

Bailey Kubesh had 6 kills, 2 ace serves and 7 set assists, and Andrea Maher added 8 kills.

Morris/Chokio-Alberta (7-3, 13-4) avenged an earlier loss to Melrose (8-2, 11-4) to extend its winning streak to 7 and snap the Dutchmen’s winning streak at 6.

Hunter Mundal was on the service line for MCA when the Tigers captured the match’s final two points, including Terianne Itzen’s winning spike on the edge of the Melrose defense.

Itzen finished with 15 kills, while Sydney Engebretson led the Tigers with 19 kills in 48 attacks and Paige Schieler chipped in another 10 ace hits. Directing the offense with a combined 34 assists were Haley Erdahl and Chelsey Ehleringer.

Engebretson also had 7 ace blocks, Itzen collected 30 digs and Beth Holland added 29 digs and 5 ace serves.

Dassel-Cokato’s strong squad flexed its muscle in a sweep of New London-Spicer on Thursday.

The Chargers, which had a 20-match winning streak snapped on Tuesday, got back on track with a 25-20, 25-15 and 25-22 Wright County Conference win.

NLS’ Sydney Stone had 14 kills and Lindsay Vagle had 8. Stone also had 3 ace serves.

Kelsie Rustad had 32 set assists.
