WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals volleyball team couldn't close out Sartell on Tueday, dropping the final two games and the Central Lakes Conference match in the Cards' final regular-season home appearance.

After losing the first set, Willmar won two straight in convincing fashion. But the Sabres rallied for the 25-18, 8-25, 17-25, 25-19, 15-8 victory.

"We are just really inconsistent," said Willmar head coach Traci Grussing. "If we get scared that we're going to lose, we start playing really safe and that's when you lose."

Emily Minnick was a terror at the net, finishing with 29 kills and 8 ace blocks.

Leah Ruter had 10 kills and Riley Grussing had 47 set assists and 4 ace blocks.

The Cardinals finished 8-4 in the CLC and are 11-9 overall. They play in a tournament in Moorhead this weekend with the hope that their game will come together in the playoffs.

"By this time of the year, we should be playing like a more experienced team," Grussing said. "But we still play like an inexperienced team."
