Subway Invite

The Central Minnesota Christian School volleyball team won four of five matches to earn third place and MACCRAY won three of five matches, good for fourth-place finish, at the Subway Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Marshall.

CMCS, now 25-5 overall, suffered its only loss to Southwest United, which then downed Dawson-Boyd in the tournament’s championship match.

The Bluejays’ Lexi Scott was good on 105 of 110 attacks and had 64 kills and a superb .536 hitting percentage.

Scott also had 15 blocks, 41 digs and she served 3 aces. Errin Orred had 34 kills and 7 blocks, Mary Covert had 18 kills, 4 blocks and 5 ace serves, and Nicole Brouwer had 137 set assists, 7 blocks and 6 kills.

The Bluejays play at Minneota in the Camden Conference championship match at 7 p.m. today.

MACCRAY’s Ashley Dirksen finished the tournament with 45 kills and Brooklyn Gould had 43 kills, 4 ace serves and 58 digs.

The Wolverines’ Aleah Schwitters, who had 119 set assists over the weekend, surpassed 2,000 career set assists in a victory over Worthington on Saturday. On Friday, in a victory over Windom, Gould surpassed 1,000 career digs.

Runestone Classic

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa volleyball team outpointed Brainerd 25-21, 25-22 for fifth place in the Runestone Classic in Alexandria on Saturday.

Grand Rapids beat Mounds View 25-20, 27-25 for first place and North St. Paul topped Alexandria 25-23, 25-20 for third.

Rocori spilled Wadena-Deer Creek 25-17, 26-24 for seventh.

BBE was 2-2 in the tournament, also defeating Rocori while dropping matches to Grand Rapids and North St. Paul.
