NEW LONDON — Sydney Stone swatted away 22 kills and Olivia Setterberg had another 10 before leaving with an ankle injury early in the third game, sparking New London-Spicer to a 25-12, 17-25, 25-18, 12-25, 15-6 win over Wright County Conference rival Litchfield Tuesday.

No other Wildcat (5-2, 15-9) reached double figures in kills, but their defense and Litchfield’s miscues allowed them to remain 2 wins behind first-place Delano in a tight WCC race. Stone also had a team-high 15 digs with Bri Fredrick following with 14, Shelby Stehn 12 and Lindsay Vagle 10.

Petra Lothert added 3 ace serves and Kelsie Rustad supplied 43 assists and 2 ace serves. Vagle also served up a couple of aces.

NLS, tied for fourth in the conference, is at third-place Dassel-Cokato on Thursday.
