Prep volleyball: Wildcats top HLWW

NEW LONDON -- Sydney Stone's 13 kills and another 10 kills from Taylor Thunstedt helped New London-Spicer advance to the Section 6AA South semifinals as the Wildcats upended Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 21-25, 25-21, 25-10, 25-20 Thursday.

The No. 3 seed Wildcats (12-15) snap a six-match losing streak with the win and will face either No. 5 Annandale or No. 4 St. Cloud Cathedral on Tuesday. The loser of today's Annandale/SCC match will host the two sub-section semifinals.

NLS was also aided by Jess Johnson's five ace serves and 20 set assists. Olivia Setterberg added eight kills while Mikayla Jacobson led the team with 14 digs.
