Prep wrestling: Falcons surge past DB/LQPV

MADISON — Three straight victories, including two by pins, helped Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City overcome Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley’s early lead and the Falcons cruised to the 47-17 West Central Conference win Tuesday.
Ethan Housman at 120 pounds, Derek Dengerud at 132 and Larry Bomstad at 145 won by fall for ACGC. Logan Peterson added a technical fall at 152.
Jordan Bothun at 113 (technical fall), Garth Ochsendorf at 160 (decision), Joe Weeding at 170 (decision) and heavyweight Brandon Schmitt (pin) recorded the DB/LQPV victories.

Paynesville 35, BOLD 27
Caleb Burris sealed the win for Paynesville by edging Manuel Garcia 7-4 in the 195-pound match. Heavyweight Tanner Harder closed out the dual with a pin for the Bulldogs, which rallied from a 15-3 deficit.
Andrew Kerzman collected a pin at 132, Nathan Stang at 138 and Alex Whitcomb at 145 earned back-to-back major decisions, and Jacob Mages won a 6-2 decision at 152 to give Paynesville a 20-15 lead. Ben Steffel’s decision at 160 and Alex Hatch’s pin at 170 put BOLD back in front at 24-20, but Frank Christian’s pin at 182 and Burris’ victory kept Paynesville ahead for good.
Brady Zitzman at 106 and Manny Garcia at 120 also earned pins for BOLD.
