Prep wrestling roundup: Dragons tame Wildcats

MAPLE LAKE — Litchfield won four of the last five weights to rally past New London-Spicer 37-36 Thursday in a Wright County Conference dual.
Jake Kalkbrenner at 170 and Nathan King at 182 notched back-to-back pins to tie the match at 30-30. The Dragons then forfeited at 195 before getting a 5-1 decision from Walker Kaping at 220 and a 10-2 major decision from Max Kaping at heavyweight.
Five of Litchfield’s wins were pins as Sam Tibbits at 106, Tyler Jones at 132 and Devan Nelson at 138 also collected falls.
Corbin Schwartz at 152 and Jarrett Hatlestad at 160 earned the only pins for NLS.

Jordan Flinn’s pin midway through the second period of the 195-pound match gave Montevideo a 28-26 lead, but the Thunder Hawks then had to forfeit at 2220 and heavyweight to give Quad County the win.
Picking up other pins were Colten Specht at 113, Aaron Lalim at 170 and Hayden Johnson at 182 for Quad County, and Spencer Sulflow at 126 and Anthony Quigley at 160 for Montevideo.
