JACKSON — Two pins late in a non-conference dual Friday allowed Class A top-ranked Jackson County Central to edge Class AA No. 11 New London-Spicer 42-33.

The Wildcats led 24-12 halfway through the dual after Tom Stageberg at 106 pounds, Jakob Stageberg at 113 and Jared Travis at 145 collected pins, and Treyton Austvold at 126 and Logan Brink at 138 earned decisions.

But the Huskies roared back to win five of the next six matches by fall. All seven of JCC’s wins came from pins.

The Wildcats’ Brandon Knisley closed out the night by pinning his heavyweight opponent in 5:42.

The Falcons won just one more match than Litchfield, but the Dragons forfeited at two weights and lost Derek Fruetel to an injury. The Falcons, No. 2 in the latest Class A rankings, also got bonus points from Cameron Whitcomb’s pin at 120, Logan Peterson’s major decision at 138 and Maverick Whitcomb’s pin at 182.

Tyler Jones earned a pin at 132 for Litchfield, which got decisions from Sam Tibbits at 106, Luis Lepe at 152, Wyatt Kaping at 170, Walker Kaping at 195 and Max Kaping at 220.

The Bulldogs dominated Le Sueur-Henderson 66-9 and took care of the host school 45-27.

Jonathan Karels, Anthony Wendlandt, Michael Ludwig, Derek Ludwig and Caleb Burris all won both their matches. Wendlandt recorded two pins at 160 pounds.

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City lost its first dual of the season when it was edged by Brainerd 39-32.

The Falcons owned the lead against Brainerd for just one weight after Derek Dengerud earned a technical decision at 120 to put ACGC ahead 11-6. The Warriors notched pins in the next matches to remain in front. Maverick Whitcomb at 170 and Jacob Peterson at 195 recorded pins to get the Falcons within one, but Brainerd closed out the dual with two decisions, 6-4 at 220 and 2-1 at heavyweight.

The Falcons did roll past Milaca 50-19 and Sauk Rapids 62-4. Winning every match for ACGC were Rylan Molinaro (2-0) at 106, Robert Rasmussen (3-0) at 113, Dengerud (3-0) at 120 and 126, Logan Peterson (3-0) at 138, Larry Bomstad (3-0) at 145 and 152, Maverick Whitcomb (3-0) at 170 and 182, Cody Berghuis (1-0) at 170 and Jacob Peterson (3-0) at 195.
