OLIVIA — The ProAg of Renville County annual meeting will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 24 at Max’s Grill in Olivia.

The featured speakers will be Dave Scheibel and Joel Mathiowetz, who will speak about their trip to China with the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association and how checkoff dollars are used to promote soybeans in China.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Dinner is free for ProAg members and $20 for non-members.

The annual all-ag celebration — planned by ProAg together with the Renville County corn and soybean growers, poultry, dairy, cattlemen and pork producers — will begin at 5 p.m. March 17 at the Island Ball Room in Bird Island. The event includes a social hour, a pork chop dinner and entertainment at 6 p.m., plus a live auction and children’s activities. Tickets are $10 for age 8 and older and children age 7 and younger are free.

In addition to socializing, the event will also raise money to support country youth scholarships, FFA, 4-H and Relay for Life.

In 2013, $9,500 was awarded to high school seniors for college scholarships, $500 to local FFA chapters, $3,700 to local 4-H clubs and $5,000 to Renville County Relay for Life.
