The bill announced today by Sen. Tarryl Clark, DFL-St. Cloud; Rep. Larry Haws, DFL-St. Cloud and Rep. Larry Hosch, DFL-St. Joseph.

The new county, conceptually entitled "Lake Wobegon County," would streamline and enhance services for citizens in the central Minnesota region of St. Cloud.

The St. Cloud region is currently governed by "three counties in one city, two counties in another city and 47 different jurisdictions within a 30-mile radius," Clark said.

An April 4 meeting is scheduled to begin discussion of this county consolidation concept. The meeting will be held at Noon April 4 at the Whitney Senior Center in Saint Cloud.
