WILLMAR -- Legislators from west central Minnesota have been invited to attend a legislative listening session Monday morning in Willmar.
The session is sponsored by the Willmar Area League of Women Voters. It is intended to provide nonprofit agencies, government service providers, businesses and citizens a chance to speak to their legislators about the impact of the state government shutdown.
The session is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday in the lower level multipurpose room at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building.
The meeting is scheduled to last about 90 minutes, with the last 15 minutes set aside for closing comments from the legislators.
The format will allow each participant to speak for 2 minutes. They will be asked to state their concerns in a clear, respectful manner.
Those who wish to speak must register online or by phone before Monday by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 320-212-2285. The meeting will not take place if there is a budget agreement by Monday.
Legislators who have been invited include Sen. Joe Gimse, R-Willmar; Sen. Scott Newman, R-Hutchinson; Sen. Gary Kubly, DFL-Granite Falls; Rep. Bruce Vogel, R-Willmar; Rep. Paul Anderson, R-Starbuck; Rep. Dean Urdahl, R-Grove City; Rep. Ron Shimanski, R-Silver Lake; and Rep. Lyle Koenen, DFL-Clara City.
