Rain means end of burning ban in Renville County
OLIVIA - The burning that had been in place since the beginning of the month has been lifted in Renville County.
Sheriff Scott Hable said because the area received "some much-needed rainfall and with the vast majority of harvest complete" the burning conditions in Renville County have improved.
Habble officially lifted the ban Thursday.
Renville County residents will again be allowed to burn by permit, but Hable said caution must be exercised.
"While more rain is needed and with high winds predicted, residents are urged to use extreme caution when burning," said Hable in a press release. "Remember, hot embers rising from fires can travel long distances and can ignite other, unintended areas of cured fuels."
Current burn permits can be activated by calling Renville County Sheriff's Office dispatch at 320-523-1161.
New permits can be obtained from the Renville County License Bureau in Olivia.
