Raymond C. Koehn July 25, 1914 - July 26, 2009
PAYNESVILLE -- Raymond C. Koehn, 95, of Paynesville, formerly of Mound, died Sunday at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Mound. Private graveside services were held at Mound Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Arrangements are by Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville. Memorials are preferred.
He was born July 25, 1914, in Woonsocket, S.D., to Charles and Ella (Wolpers) Koehn. He grew up in Winona and graduated from St. Mary's College with a degree in chemistry. He worked as a quality control chemist at General Mills from 1938 until he retired as head of packaging research in 1975.
On Aug. 30, 1940, he married Florence Bailey in Minneapolis. They lived in Minneapolis and Mound.
He served on the Mound School Board from 1953 to 1959, the Mound City Council from 1962 to 1963 and as mayor from 1964 to 1965. After retirement, they moved to the Brainerd area. They moved to Paynesville in 2007.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville, the Brainerd Elks and a former member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and Masons in Mound.
Survivors include his children: Judy Elftmann of Brooklyn Center and Ric (and Barb) Koehn of Paynesville; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a sister: Lois White of Chanhassen.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2007 and by a grandson.
