MORRIS -- Raymond Lawrence Meichsner, 81, of Morris and formerly of Hancock, died Wednesday at St. Cloud Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hancock. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris.
He was born July 8, 1927, in Deer Creek, to Ernest and Josephine (Oravetz) Meichsner. He attended grade school in Deer Creek and high school in Holloway. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944.
In November 1944, he married Lorraine Hamann. In 1946, he received an honorable discharge from the Navy and the couple moved to Fargo, N.D., where he attended Hanson Auto School, graduating in 1946. After his graduation, they moved to Hancock, where he worked for Steinbring Chevrolet. In 1959, he began working for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier until his retirement in 1989. In the spring of 2007, they moved to Morris.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hancock.
He was survived by his wife, children: Earl (and Marcia) Meichsner of Brooklyn Park, Keith (and Linda) Meichsner of Alexandria, Dean (and Rita) Meichsner of Morris, Susan (and John) Olson of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother: James (and Muriel) Meichsner of Sauk Rapids.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
