As part of a plea agreement in Kandiyohi County District Court, a misdemeanor charge for making obscene or harassing phone calls against Craig David Waterman will be dismissed. He will be sentenced Aug. 17.

The charges were filed after a Raymond couple contacted the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office on Oct. 29 regarding obscene phone messages left on their machine over several months. They had also received calls in which the person hung up as soon as they answered.

A message left that day referred to sex acts the caller wanted to do to the woman, to whom he referred by name.

The deputy recorded the message, and the cell phone number left on the message. Phone records were subpoenaed and Waterman was identified as the owner of the cell number.

Phone records showed 17 calls, between May and October, to the number with the last call coinciding with the report made to the deputy.
