Work commenced Monday on reconstruction of Kandiyohi County Road 41, also known as Radio Station Road, near the junction with County Road 24, which runs to Ridgewater College in Willmar. The summer-long project began with the removal of the old bituminous surface. When completed, County Road 41 will have two 12-foot-wide driving lanes and eight-foot-wide bituminous shoulders that will allow room for bicycles on the shoulders. Tribune photo by Rand Middleton

WILLMAR -- Work began in earnest this week on the reconstruction of Kandiyohi County Road 41.

Commonly called Radio Station Road, it is a vital route into Willmar for residents on the town's far north side. Residents who live on County Road 41 will have access during the construction project, but Assistant Kandiyohi County Engineer Ray Krossman said other commuters should find a different road to travel on to avoid interfering with work crews.
