Willmar police using new information piece to inform citizens
WILLMAR -- The Willmar Police Department has begun using a new publication that is a guide for neighborhoods and city ordinances on many common complaints received by the department.
According to city Community Policing Office Marilee Dorn, the document includes a great deal of information designed to educate citizens. It was created this spring with the assistance of two law enforcement students, she said.
The flyer can also be used as a written warning when one needs to be issued, she added. Officers began using the document, which includes an area for the officer to outline the offense, on April 11.
Topics covered include city rules on fireworks, lawns, fire pits and burning, animals, alcohol, display of address, sidewalks and snow removal, curfew, ATVs, weapons, noise, garbage and parking.
Also included is contact information, and a list of common topics citizens usually have questions about, for the police, fire, city offices, planning and development department and the Kandiyohi County Humane Society.
Copies of the document can be obtained by contacting the police department, 320-235-2244, or the planning and development office at 320-235-8311.
