Willmar Police, area law, feds investigating counterfeit bills

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Police Chief is asking all businesses and restaurants to take necessary measures and precautions to determine the authenticity of the cash accepted at their establishments.

Multiple counterfeit bills have been reported by businesses and financial institutions in Willmar and in surrounding communities. Chief David Wyffels says the Police Department is investigating and working with the Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies to solve the counterfeiting crime.

Property damage

WILLMAR -- Damage to a window was reported around 4 p.m. Wednesday along the 400 block of Fifth Street Southeast.

WILLMAR -- Graffiti was reported around 5 p.m. Wednesday along the 300 block of Vos Park Drive.


WILLMAR -- A 19-year-old woman was arrested on charges of driving while impaired around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of County Roads 5 and 25.


NEW LONDON -- The theft of firearms was reported around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday along the 7000 block of 165th Avenue Northwest.
