Semi-trailer unhitches, blocks Litchfield traffic

LITCHFIELD -- The State Patrol is investigating an incident in which a semi-trailer became unhitched and blocked traffic around 6:30 a.m. Friday in Litchfield.

According to the Meeker County Sheriff's Office, Gregory Volkers, 48, of Sauk Rapids, was driving a 2000 Mack semi-tractor pulling a trailer south on State Highway 22 and turned west onto Highway 12 when the trailer came unhitched from the tractor, blocking the westbound lane of Highway 12.

Deputies directed traffic until the trailer was removed from the roadway. No injuries were reported.

Dassel man hurt in rollover east of Litchfield

LITCHFIELD -- A 51-year-old Dassel man was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in a one-vehicle crash Thursday, southeast of Litchfield.

According to the Meeker County Sheriff's Office, emergency responders were called around 1:40 p.m. Thursday to 650th Avenue and about a half mile south of U.S. Highway 12. David Manthei, who was driving a 1969 Ford Bronco, had swerved to avoid a collision on the roadway and drove into the ditch, causing the vehicle to roll over. The vehicle came to rest on its top.

The sheriff's office is investigating.

Prinsburg man airlifted after crash

NEW LONDON -- The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office said Jacob Wayne Listerud, 18, of Prinsburg, was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with injuries suffered Thursday in a one-vehicle crash.

Listerud was westbound on 139th Avenue Northwest when the 1993 Chevrolet pickup he was driving left the road, entered the ditch, crossed a driveway and hit a black walnut tree. The crash occurred at 9:48 p.m.

The sheriff's office, Sunburg Ambulance, Sunburg Fire Department, New London Fire Department and Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad responded to the scene.

Willmar Police investigate assault

WILLMAR -- Willmar Police are investigating an assault in which an 18-year-old Willmar man said he was punched and robbed by two men while he was walking to his vehicle at a Ridgewater College parking lot.

The victim said he was assaulted at about 4 p.m. Thursday after the two suspects walked up to him and demanded his wallet and keys. The man said he was punched and after he woke up, he said his cell phone, wallet and keys were missing.

The man didn't report the incident until about 9 p.m. Police said he suffered minor injuries.

Theft

WILLMAR -- Tools were taken from an unattached garage located in the 1300 block of Lakeland Drive Northeast, according to Willmar Police Department. Entry was gained Wednesday after a deadbolt lock was forced open. A Black and Decker cordless drill set in a black case, gas-powered trimmer and small red plastic tool box were reported missing.
