Warning sirens to be tested due to equipment updates
WILLMAR -- The warning sirens throughout Kandiyohi County will be tested, due to updating of the equipment, at approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday.
According to a news release from Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog, there could also be testing around 1 p.m. Oct. 4, if necessary.
The sirens are normally tested at 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month.
WILLMAR -- A 19-year-old woman was arrested on charges of fifth-degree and domestic assault around 11:10 p.m. Sunday along the 1500 block of Becker Avenue Southeast.
WILLMAR -- Damage to a vehicle was reported around 10:30 p.m. Sunday along the 4100 block of First Street South.
WILLMAR -- Damage to a vehicle was reported around 6:40 p.m. Sunday along the 1600 block of 7½ Street Southwest.
WILLMAR -- Damage to a vehicle was reported around 5:10 p.m. Sunday along the 3300 block of Fourth Avenue Northwest.
WILLMAR -- Damage to a vehicle, a window and door panel were smashed by a landscaping block, was reported around 2:15 p.m. Sunday along the 900 block of 19th Street Southeast.
* Michael John Wortham, 48, of Atwater, pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of domestic assault.
He will be sentenced Nov. 15.
The charge was filed after Aug. 10, when the Atwater Police Department was called to a residence after a woman said Wortham had struck her in the face with the back of his hand.
Police said Wortham was uncooperative and appeared to be intoxicated.
He has prior convictions for stalking and assault in October 2006 and for domestic assault in September 2009.
